Full Moon in Cancer: Spotlight on Initiating Caring & Nurturing Cycle

Today’s Full Moon begins at 10:50am MST with the Moon + Sun sitting opposite each other at the celestial longitude of 00 degrees of Cancer 50′ / 00 degrees of Capricorn 50′, respectively.

IMG_176400 degrees of a Cardinal sign means the beginning of a New Cycle. The Moon represents our Emotional Body, daily habits, following our intuition, listening and responding to our emotions/feelings, and how we nurture all of this. The Sacred Feminine attributes.

The Moon rules Cancer, therefore this Full Moon in Cancer is MORE of all of the above. Loud and clear.

The Sun represents our Soul self, the vital and active principal of how we DO our BEing. Here our Sacred Masculine attributes are in play. Spiritual inSPIRed action, as we follow our intuition and feel our feelings – what heartfully DO you want for YOU?

Each Full Moon brings ILLUMINATION – a spotlight turned on Within self as we become conscious of what it is our Soul Self (Sun) wishes us to know and BE more. The Full Moon reflects the unconscious desires of our Soul every Full Moon. What have you been Unconscious of Within that you are now Conscious of?

Interestingly, we began 2018 with the Supermoon Full Moon in Cancer at 11 degrees Cancer 38′ of celestial longitude. During 2018 (an 11 or Master Number year for all of us) we’ve been forced into the Illumination of Caring & Nurturing – for self and others – ALL YEAR LONG. Have you been listening to your Inner Self’s needs? What action have you taken in 2018 as a result?

IMG_2366And now, almost full circle, we have a unique opportunity to REVIEW 2018 under a more sensitive, caring, feeling and intuitive lens. Where were you, Emotionally and Soulfully, January 1st? What have you experienced this year within that spotlight of Consciousness? How conscious were you, truly, listening to your Emotional Body’s needs? Following your intuitive hits of insights, seeing the symbols and symbolism from Nature, coincidental occurrences and so-called random encounters with new relationships, partnerships and affiliations?

All year, throughout 2018, we’ve been operating, Emotionally, under the spotlight of our Soul’s Unconscious Desires to BE nurtured, cared for, loved, with compassion, forgiveness and true empathy. Can you ‘see’ now, as you look back over this year, how the happenings and experiences within your life has all been in aid of letting go of that hard outer shell of protectionism, to ‘see’ your Soul’s true desire – to Love and Be Loved – just as you already are?

Waiting for Santa Dec 12th

Our family has experienced the death of 2 close family members and 2 close friends this year. Within the last 5 years I have lost a parent, 2 sets of aunts/uncles, a favourite aunt, 2 close friends who were like sisters to me, and recently, a sister. I have moved from Nanaimo, to Calgary and now to Okotoks. I have released working for others to now administrate and steer my own Astrology business 100%. I have made many new connections and friends and partnerships that ebbed and flowed this year. And no matter that I haven’t physically seen my friends on Vancouver Island these past 5 years – we are connected, always and in All Ways. Just as I am still connected with all of my loved ones who have passed over. They visit from time to time to remind me how much I am loved and beloved.

The key review for me is after all the caregiving for others these past 5 years – it truly is TIME to turn the spotlight of caring, nurturing and following my feelings, intuition and insights ON ME. The self-nurturance piece is what we all need to embrace. This is what the Full Moon in Cancer that began 2018, and this current one ending 2018, have been, and are, reminding all of us. BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE. Emotionally embrace your Soul’s Unconscious Desires to this end!

The Sabian Symbol (from: The Sabian Symbols as an Oracle, by Lynda Hill & Richard Hill, 1995) for today’s Full Moon in Cancer is:

  • Key symbolism: This marks a real turning point. There needs to be a symbolic gesture or expression of the change of allegiance. Although this may be a decision of the collective, each individual can gain glory in the action. Changing one’s loyalties. Coming to a turning point in one’s obligations or duties. Announcing new standards.
  • Shadow: Too quick to reject the old just for the sake of change. Fickleness.

Look Within, as you stand in your spotlight, review where you were January 1st, what you’ve experienced, felt, and embraced throughout 2018. Now ‘see’ and feel where you are today. What allegiances have changed Within you? Those obligations/duties – has there been a turning point? What are your new standards – for you – and how are you announcing them to others in your life?

IMG_1579More importantly: how have the changes, decisions and experiences brought forth SOULfull change vs. Ego-Self change? Ahhhhh…..yes….are you truly loyal to your Soul’s Unconscious Desires yet? Take time these next several days, within this Full Moon phase, to truly BE with yourself, DO what you truly DESIRE to do, for you. SEE what 2018 has been wishing for you all along.

Namaste & Happy Solstice & Merry Christmas!

Why Bring Astrology Into Your Life? The Signs of Spring…

As we experience pre-Full Moon in Sagittarius, I thought I’d reach out globally today (one of Sagittarius’ themes) to connect with all of you!

As an Astrologer for 15 years now, the main questions people ask me is, “What can Astrology do for me? What IS it?” I have struggled to answer this question because it is multi-layered, not a one-size fits all self-growth tool.

Astrology is the science AND art of interpreting when and how current planetary cycles within YOUR life (via your birth chart and yearly Solar Return charts) are activating themes of further self and soul growth.

Seasonal Zodiac Wheel

Seasonal Zodiac Wheel

The signs and planets of Astrology have a unique relationship to one another: three layers to begin with actually. Let me take you through the first quarter of the wheel of the Zodiac, or what we like to call the Natural Wheel, which begins with the season of Spring, the start of the Solar (sun) year (for those of you new to Astrology, the Sun’s path takes exactly one year to travel through all 12 signs of the Zodiac, and each season is grouped within a pairing of three signs). Read on…

  • SPRING: we all know about the Vernal Equinox (vernal = green) heralds the beginning of this season. This is when the Sun enters the sign of Aries at 00 degrees. That moment in time and space marks the true beginning of Spring every year down here on Earth.
  • First Sign of Spring: The sign of Aries sits in the 1st House of the Zodiac wheel and is ruled by Mars. Here, therefore, are the three layers – planetary ruler (Mars) + zodiac sign (Aries) + House location (1st). Here the element of cardinal FIRE is coming forth, stirring new growth and a new season of birds nesting and animals birthing their young (we need FIRE to belay the cold of Winter’s watery sign, Pisces). We humans become all fired up too (notice the Ricky Racers out in their cars and trucks, feeling their oats so to speak)! Very much instinctual…
  • Second Sign of Spring: The sign of Taurus sits in the 2nd House of the wheel and is ruled by Venus. Again, see the three layers of meaning. Taurus is the element of fixed EARTH, a truly “let’s get down and dirty and grow grow grow” the natural growth of grass, flowers, trees budding and blossoming. Taurus likes to look after all the details, hands-on, and doesn’t like change much.
  • Third Sign of Spring: Here Gemini comes into play within the third House, ruled by Mercury (and interestingly, Mercury is doing his Retrograde journey through Gemini right now. Tell me how many lengthly chats you’ve been having these past weeks?!). Here we have the mutable AIR element, going with the flow, socializing, networking, gathering data and sharing information. Here the weather is somewhat cool (Spring) yet with intermittent days of hotter temps (Summer). Changeable. Like Gemini, able to talk yourself into or out of anything!

Before I continue with the rest of the seasons and how they relate throughout the Natural Wheel of the Zodiac, I want to return to those three layers of meaning I referred to above. When I create each person’s birth chart (via knowing their TIME, DATE and PLACE of birth) not everyone has Aries Rising (the sign that begins their 1st House in their chart).

Spring Blossoms 2015

Spring Blossoms 2015

I mention this because the Natural Wheel of the Zodiac is just that, the natural path of our Sun as we look out from Earth, journeying through our seasons down here. This wheel is our jumping off point, something static to keep in mind while we Astrologers deal with the reality of each person’s chart and actual time, date and place of birth. Here is when things get really interesting!

Have you ever played the dice game, Yahtzee, using those six dice to get the right combinations of numbers, and you never know, with each roll, if you’ll receive the combination you are working on now? Well I see our respective birth charts kind of similar to these rolls of multiple dice: we ALL have the same 12 Houses and 12 Signs and the planets and asteroids in our birth charts. What makes us UNIQUE from one another is HOW and WHERE the signs and planets are placed within the Houses of YOUR chart! All due to where, when and what date of the year you were born. In other words, as if someone’s hand had tossed 12 dice up in the air, and voila!

For instance, I have my Sun in Pisces (in my 7th House), Virgo Rising (1st House), Moon in Taurus (9th House) and Midheaven in Taurus (begins my 10th House). The Natural Wheel has Aries Rising, and the Midheaven is in Capricorn – always.

I adjust my interpretation accordingly to where all the planets and signs have aligned themselves within my chart because of when I was born (5:41 p.m. February 23rd, 1958) and where (Calgary, AB Canada). Where the planets were, and the signs they were travelling through up in the sky the date and time and place of my birth are therefore reflected within MY birth chart.

Now, as an Astrologer, I take another step to look deeper, past the top layer of the chart, to note the Natural Wheel’s signature underneath. I may have been born with Virgo Rising (covering all of my 1st House) yet underneath all that Virgo still lies the energy of Aries, and Mars as ruler. Do you see the layering of themes going on here? As I move around the chart, I see what is printed on the chart AND what is lying energetically underneath it, always. And how I relate to all this energy signature, how I embrace it or reject it, well that’s what makes me, ME.

This is WHY our birth charts are UNIQUE to each of us. Yes, I may be a Piscean, yet how I shine  this part of myself (within my one-on-one close friendships, partnerships – 7th House location) also has the underlying energy of LIBRA – cardinal Air sign that naturally rules the 7th House – beginning NEW equal and fair connections, one by one, relating with others who like to initiate change and be vocal about it, with love and diplomacy.

Blossoms in Shadow 2015

Blossoms in Shadow 2015

AND, one last note before I leave this page, each and every sign, House and planet has its Shadow side – that Ego resistance stance, stubbornly preventing us from moving forward as easily as we could – and THIS is why Astrology is such a great self-growth / soul growth tool to use and become familiar with! I ‘see’ MY Shadow self in play, how and when my Ego resists any change my Soul (Sun) self wishes to bring forth, and with a little effort on my part, I look to find the Light side, how to help my Ego to let go of the dark, embrace the idea of working within the Light for a change….via the planetary cycles offering THEIR energetic help for MY soul growth!

Herein lies the magic and the Divine Timing of our life, as it unfolds, via the current planetary cycles continuing to dance around our birth chart, activating themes (new and repeating) for opportunities to embrace, love and heal those parts of our Inner Self we have rejected over time (now and in past lives). A lifetime of opportunities. This is why I love Astrology – it is ALWAYS on time, In Time, and in Divine Timing. If you have the courage (Aries!) to look and ask and learn.

Stay tuned for the Signs of Summer!

Blessed BE!

Full Moon in Leo

Zodiac Sign of Leo

Zodiac Sign of Leo

Today’s Full Moon in Leo heralds the half-way mark of this current Moon cycle that began January 20th. Timing of the Full Moon was at 4:09 pm MST and coordinates for those of you who have a copy of your natal chart: 14 degrees of Leo 48 minutes.

At Full Moon the Moon is directly opposite the Sun (this means the Sun is sitting at 14 degrees of Aquarius 48 minutes) reflecting the unconscious desires of our Sun (or Soul) self. It brings Illumination and possibly AHA! moments of what exactly you’ve been consciously/unconsciously working on deep within you this Moon cycle.

Leo rules the Heart and this Full Moon in Leo is sitting beside Jupiter who has been travelling through Leo since August 2014. Currently Jupiter is Rx (retrograde) meaning its energy is directly deeply inward, magnifying and expanding our heartfelt issues and intentions. Combined with today’s Full Moon – LOTS of emotion people! Be it heartfelt or Ego/arrogantly generated. Are you coming from LOVE or drama today?

The continuing “open-heart surgery” of Jupiter’s travels brings us face to face with our unconscious ways of NOT treating ourselves and others with love. It is in your face, loud, and necessary for key inner Soul growth. And the Full Moon brings with it Ego fears, anger, resentment, frustration, “I want what I want and I want it NOW!” kind of emotional reactions to whatever is going on in your life right now. Financial worries? Relationship issues? Will I be losing my job soon?Jupiter

Jupiter normally brings optimism and jovial natures to the fore. Being Rx this is somewhat dampened and we have to dig deep to bring it forth. Leo is all about fun and play, creating something to share with others, our Inner Child issues (hence the drama) and romance. Leo is where we SHINE our inner-Light out into the world. How shiny are you these days?

Mercury is still Rx too, in Aquarius (Leo’s opposite sign) and shows us how to “think outside the box”, utilizing our intuition, creative flowing problem-solving skills and alerting us to just how receptive we truly are. Are you ALLOWING the inward flow to occur? Both Leo and Aquarius are Fixed signs whereby we can hold on tightly to what we already know/believe and refuse to “change our minds” (Mercury) or “change our hearts” (Leo).

Original thoughts, spoken/written words, self-talk – how are you ALLOWING these to flow? Expand your usual boundaries beyond what you would normally learn, think, speak, write, share with self and others. Some people are networking for the first time, rehearsing their 30 second “elevator speech”. Others are creating new social media networks, connecting within the worldwideweb (www).

Uranus and the South Node in Libra continue to bring Unexpected situations/people to us to clear old patterns of behaviour regarding how we represent our Independent natures to others. Libra assists with rebalancing this, ensuring equal face time and equality for all involved. They are also part of the continuing Grand Trine in Fire signs (Uranus + South Node in Aries + Saturn and Athena in Sagittarius + Jupiter Rx and Moon in Leo).

The Fire element represents Spirit, inspired creativity, and taking action. Aries action = all about me; Leo action = creative coming from within to share without; Sagittarius action = how can I connect “out in the world at large?”. Aries fire is quick; Leo is sustained over a long period of time; and Sagittarius fire wants to move out into the world.

This Full Moon in Leo brings sustained fire energy to take action over a long period of time. What are YOU fired up to create today and for the next several days? At the same time we access our Soul (Sun) originality and innovation from Aquarius creating an “AND” world. Notice how the opposite signs (Leo + Aquarius) can either be polarized opposites (not working together at all) or combined in an “AND” somehow. What within you needs to be combined – mixing Air and Fire to combust, what exactly? Air (Aquarius) likes to connect with community and show up as a humanitarian with futuristic ideas to share with others. Fire (Leo) can either be dramatic/egoic or loving.Aquarius glyph

Think back to 1987/88 when Saturn last entered Sagittarius. Where were you then? What were you doing? How was your life being restructured then? I experienced my first Saturn Return timing back then (we all undergo this around age 28-30). I had returned to Calgary after living in Edmonton for seven years, moved in with yet another roommate, and was working for Shell Oil & Gas in the IT department. I began a year-long process of learning about the 10 distinct Indigenous areas of Canada in order to volunteer for The Spirit Sings museum exhibit during the 1988 Calgary Olympics.

Sagittarius represents other cultures, the global community, higher learning and possibly long-distance travel. Where we seek our Higher Truth about why we are here, what is my purpose this lifetime? Through learning of the various cosmology myths of the Indigenous peoples of Canada I expanded my own spiritual beliefs. Later on I would work with a Cree Elder here in Calgary at her non-profit healing centre, assisting First Nations women to empower themselves after abusive lives on the reservations.

It is interesting and unexpected what the Fire signs bring into our lives. Allow yourself to move beyond current boundaries, expand your horizons, look beyond the knowable. Think outside the usual boxes – explore your world, be curious. At the same time we are being asked to let go of old patterns of conditioning re: travelling that Drama Triangle (victim/rescuer/persecutor) where we use our addictions to stay victimized.

Where is Pisces in your chart? We have four planets therein: Neptune (ruler of Pisces) brings imagination, dreaming, illusion/delusions; Venus brings our desires and what we love/want in our lives; Chiron continues to heal our separation issues from our spiritual/Divine self, allowing us to see our fears of being rejected for being “different” or “unique” aka SENSITIVE compared to others. And Mars brings assertive action to move beyond that Drama/Victim BS, fearing to dream our dreams, to let go of those addictions that help us escape the reality of NOW. All of this is being asked of us this Full Moon.

Spend some time within your Heart this Full Moon phase (until February 7th) to ‘see’ yourself more lovingly, allowing expansion to occur AND bring in your futuristic ideas and thoughts to share with others. Create your AND world heartfully while letting go of drama and addictions, illusions and delusions. BE REAL, in the NOW, in the HEART.
