New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Capricorn: “Taking Care of Business”

Saturday January 5th, 2019 at 6:28 pm MST we experienced the New Moon/Solar Eclipse within the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn – Taking Care of Business – be it your business of the work you do, of home and hearth, family or relationships or self needs.

Solar Eclipse-Partial

Solar Eclipse – Partial

The days leading up to January 5th told you which area of life was about to be “…refueled, having new seeds planted within it, creating new foundations for new projects, reaching outward and striving toward new experiences….” (Celeste Teal’s Eclipses Predicting World Events & Personal Transformation, 2009).

Each New Moon phase brings its own NEWNESS – something your Emotional Body has been holding onto, perhaps a daily habit that is now blocking your way forward, a decision made many moons ago that shows itself, now, to be not you at all – whatever the NEW is to be – this Moon cycle will show you how well you are, need to, must, take care of its business.

img_2046 2Astrologically, Saturn rules Capricorn, and is therefore the Lord of this Eclipse. Saturn will try to constrict, limit, discipline, and need to conserve (tighten those belts?). There can be an air of KARMIC occurrences in your life this week too. Please be aware of all interactions, transactions, and circumstances that showed up – can be as simple as signing a contract or waiver – what do you FEEL about what occurred? Is it haunting you? Is it empowering you?

A Solar Eclipse brings forth processing our Self-Identity and Ego – who am I and how am I mastering my Ego-self needs/choices/desires to allow more room for my Soul-self needs/choices/desires? The energy of this eclipse continues onward, within our lives, for the next 3.5 years!

Capricorn is the mountain goat climbing up and down and across mountain paths, seeking its goal. Have you plateaued out? Are you catching your breath? Or is your Ego-self afraid of success, hiding away from new opportunities, life changes that will open you up to even greater potential and reward? Some mountain goats continue to climb despite their Ego-self fears/denials/resistance, some return to home base and wonder “What was I thinking?!” while others stay put – keep the status quo – don’t rock the boat, eh?

img_1106Capricorn, as a cardinal sign, MUST create change. This earth sign begins a new season – Winter – and all the change this season brings, weather-wise. Having an Eclipse in an Earth sign denotes drought, recessions, financial problems, scarcity, famine, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions or avalanches. Earth signs are motivated by practical concerns.

Here in Alberta our winter has yet to begin – barely any snowfall thus far, temperatures are still mild (considering we’re used to more -20 to -30 C temperatures) – so yes, I’d say we’re experiencing a bit of drought.

Apple shares plummeted, causing the stock markets to drastically decline, then rallied back within the first few days of January. Canada/Alberta have indeed been in a recession, especially with the oil and gas industry changes and challenges since 2014, made worse due to provincial and federal shenanigans.

2019 will find Albertans and Canadians returning to the polls to elect NEW government leaders – time will tell all soon enough. Capricorn rules all traditional institutions such as government, economics, trade, health, education, taxes, law and corporations. Any more cut-backs coming our way?

As always, people decide to leave us just prior to or with an Eclipse. Their passing brings change and the Emotional Body, Physical Body and Mental Body are in a state of shock, flux and sorrow – no matter if it was a sudden death or one long-expected. The process of Letting Go that loved one is our grief process – totally unique for each of us. And here constriction, stability and security issues come to the fore like no other.

7chakrasyogaWithin the Physical Body, via the energetic Chakra system, the Root Chakra is ruled by Saturn and Capricorn – our connection to Earth. Interesting how, with this Solar Eclipse, we all can be experiencing any of the following:

  • Main Issues: of Survival, Stability or physical needs and sense of safety
  • When Imbalanced, May Experience: anxiety disorders, unfounded fears, nightmares, issues with colon, bladder, elimination; lower back, leg or feet issues. For men, prostrate issues. Eating disorders may also signify imbalance.
  • When Blocked: anxiety, lack of physical energy, as sense of being ungrounded (or perhaps NOT being in your body?)

To rebalance/unblock this Root Chakra, try:

  • Using the Mantra: LAM over and over…observe where the Ego is stuck on security, stability or financial issues…what changes need to be made?
  • Affirmation: “I am safe, protected and secure. All is as it should be.”

An eclipse will occur during a New Moon or Full Moon only if one of the Moon’s Nodes (North Node or South Node) is nearby. For this Solar Eclipse in Capricorn, the South Node is here – bringing forth Unresolved Issues from Past Lives/earlier this lifetime – all with the theme of security, stability and survival. Take advantage of this Dragon’s Tail to sweep away the blockages/imbalances of old – are they still part of your belief system, now? “I cannot retire without knowing how long I will live, so do I have enough money to survive?!” is one scenario….live for your life now…AND trust you will bring forth new sources of income along the way. We are, after all, reinventing retirement, being a senior/elder, and old age.

2018 march snows! 004Saturn is Father Time – and guides us to our goals, the responsibilities we take on, and that which we want to BUILD, successfully, for posterity. No matter what age you are, dream and build using current resources at hand to transform them into something NEW that is required by the collective, now. Only YOU have the ability to create YOUR creation – hands-on, with practicality and being connected with Mother Earth.

Namaste & in Loving Memory of Uncle Dan…Love You!

Full Moon in Aries: Warrior, Pioneer and/or Explorer?

We experienced the Full Moon in Aries (02 degrees Aries 00′ celestial longitude) Monday September 24th beginning at 8:52 pm MDT and were in the Full Moon phase until today as of 2:47 pm MDT.

Full Moon in Aries Sept 24 2018

Harvest Moon Sept 24, 2018

Full Moon is all about Illumination, AHA moments, shining a bright light upon a situation/circumstance occurring in your life that wasn’t quite clear up until this week. What became obvious for you?

Aries brings forth our Inner Warrior, riding to the rescue to take Action of some sort – initiating NEW change due to Aries being a cardinal fire sign – initiating something NEW in our lives that we’ve been neglecting until now. We will find that inner energy/fire to ACT upon instincts – no editing please! INSPIRed Action (In Spirit) coming from our spiritual self/higher self. We may not KNOW the WHY of what we MUST do at this time – somewhat like the Fool Card in Tarot. We’re about to take a journey into the Unknown…scary as that may seem to our wee Ego-self…it is TIME to

IMG_1533

unearth that which we’ve been neglecting!

I say this – neglecting – because the Full Moon at 02 degrees of Aries 00′ activates our natal ERIS (sister to Mars) position in our charts/lives – for everyone born since March 10, 1925 until February 25, 1963! All of us Baby Boomers are being reminded, LOUDLY, of what we’ve been neglecting in our life that is key to Pioneer and/or Explore further – despite that element of the Unknown! We know not where this current journey will take us!

AND there is a deep HEALING occurring in this area we’ve neglected due to CHIRON sitting at 00 degrees of Aries 02′ Rx (retrograde) therefore making it PERSONAL – its energy draws inward, Within each of us, to heal how we’ve been editing our instinctual behaviors until now. Our Fear of being rejected for showing up, period. Wherever Aries is in your chart – here is where the AHA moment, with Healing, occurs.

What always amazes me is the TIMING of our planetary cycles – how each planet supports the upcoming cycle of another planet/luminary, on and on. We’re about to close another 19-month Venus Synodic cycle that BEGAN in ARIES! Here the Warrior Goddess has been assisting us to retool the energy of ARIES – removing the anger, bloodthirstiness and brutality – to replace it with Self-Love, Compassion, Standing Up for What we Truly Believe is RIGHT for the good of all – at this time.

The Shadow side of Aries is “all about ME” attitudes – which is being played out right now between Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and US President Trump. They forget what is for the Good of All in this tariff battle of words. Two boys in the sandbox – really?! Here the Ego-self shows itself OR we can choose to Pioneer a NEW inward path that we’ve not expressed/experienced before now – a personality expression that is softened, more loving and compassionate.

Which then leads to Exploration – of a new direction revealed in each of our lives, to SEE beyond the little self, to take action that supports beyond the individual, in time. The opposite sign is LIBRA (where the Sun now sits) beckoning us to bring back equilibrium, equality, justice, fairness, peace, harmony and LOVE – in partnership! Where’s the diplomacy, negotiation, and TRUth (!) PM TRUdeau/President TRUmp?

We have a few more hours of AHA moments to witness, face, and embrace before we enter the Disseminating Moon phase here early this afternoon. Look back at what has occurred this week, for you personally. What have you NEGLECTED in your life of late that is LOUDLY being presented for much-needed healing, now? BE HONEST with yourself, take time to heal, and take COURAGE as you Pioneer new ways of BEing Within yourself, while you Explore new directions that have opened up because you took that new/renewed action.

Happy Thanksgiving, Canadian-style!

Oct 12, 2015 Okotoks, AB

Today we Canadian’s celebrate our Thanksgiving Day, which, from the research I have done began 42 years prior to the first Pilgrim (early Puritans) Thanksgiving in New England! Interesting…

Historically, our Canadian Thanksgiving began with the completion of a tumultuous third voyage of explorer Sir Martin Frobisher, who, under the sponsorship of Queen Elizabeth I in 1578, came to North America in search of a Northwest Passage to the Pacific Ocean. He landed that year in what is now known as our province of Newfoundland, and formally celebrated surviving his long journey exploring this passage, and not for a successful harvest (as the Pilgrims did in Plymouth Colony 42 years later in 1620).

Frobisher introduced to North America what his sponsor, Queen Elizabeth I, did throughout her 44-year long reign – annually marking her gratitude to be alive, a leader, protected and appreciated by Her people – via public displays of Thanksgiving from the year of her coronation, 1559, until her death in 1603. It was proclaimed a day of dancing, laughter, love and tears – the Merrie Old England depicted by the playwrights William Shakespeare and  Christopher Marlowe, and the poet Edmund Spencer, all of the Elizabethan Era.

In 1578 Frobisher and his men brought this Elizabethan mindset with them, and succeeding immigrant groups to what is now Canada did the same:

  • The French, via explorer Samuel de Champlain, who founded what became New France and Quebec City, in 1604, celebrated all of this via Thanksgiving feasts;
  • After the Seven Years’ War ended in 1763, when New France was handed over to the British, Halifax citizens feasted their Thanksgiving;
  • The Loyalists from America, colonist survivors of the American Revolution (1775-1783), who remained loyal to England, brought the American customs of Thanksgiving to Quebec and Nova Scotia – the turkey, squash and pumpkin pie;
  • Lower and Upper Canada observed Thanksgiving on different dates in 1816, celebrating the end of the war between France and England;
  • In 1838, Lower Canada used Thanksgiving to celebrate the end of the Lower Canada Rebellion. Thereafter Thanksgiving was celebrated six times from 1850 to 1865 as they merged into a united Province of Canada.

The first Thanksgiving Day after Canadian Confederation was observed as a civic holiday on April 5, 1872 to celebrate the recovery of the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) from a serious illness. For many years prior to November 6, 1879 (when it was finally declared a national, rather than religious, holiday) Thanksgiving Day was celebrated either in late October or early November.

In 1957 Thanksgiving Day was officially declared to be the second Monday in October. The theme changed each year to reflect on an important event to be thankful for.

What I found fascinating whilst researching all of this is the ROOT of the difference between the Canadian and American versions of their respective Thanksgiving Day:

  • Sir Martin Frobisher sailed to North America in 1578 under sponsorship of Queen Elizabeth I, and brought with him Her version of what Thanksgiving meant – surviving her half-sister Queen Mary’s repeated efforts to kill Her (Elizabeth) and then successfully reigning for the next 44 years thereafter, whilst bringing further employment, progress and wealth to the country that had suffered greatly under her half-sister “Bloody Mary” (who wanted to end the Reformation, to reform the Church of England to full communion with the Church of Rome) and previous to that, her father King Henry VIII’s English Reformation (reforming movements of Erasmian, Lutheran, Reformed, and the Church of England – which displayed similarities with Roman Catholicism) which morphed into Calvinism (and Evangelical reform) under his son, Edward VI’s reign (prior to “Bloody Mary’s” reign).
  • The Pilgrims were Separatists, emerging during Elizabeth I’s reign (she had been raised as a Protestant, and attempted to make England Protestant without alienating the Catholic population who had supported Mary – aka the Elizabethan Religious Settlement in 1559) by separating from the Church of England in the late 1580’s. By 1606, due to social hostility and fear of future persecution, this group left England for Amsterdam, then by 1617 wanted to move to where they could still retain their English identity, so in 1620 landed in the US state of New England at Plymouth Rock. This Plymouth Colony later experienced tensions between the Indians and previous New England colonists, turning into the deadly conflict called King Philip’s War. In 1620 the Pilgrims gave their first Thanksgiving for a successful harvest by befriending and cooperating with the Indians in order to learn how to survive the coming winter.
  • The Puritan Movement came about in the 1560’s, for further reform of the Church of England (aka Anglican Church). From the 1560’s to 1570’s, Calvinism also came into being. In this pro-Protestant, anti-Catholic environment, the Puritans pushed for more reforms on the Church of England via the Admonition to the Parliament, setting off a major controversy in England.
  • King James VI of Scotland (Queen Mary’s son) who took the throne after Queen Elizabeth I’s death in 1603, had been raised in the Presbyterian Church in Scotland, which looked broadly like the type of church the Puritans wanted in England. In 1604 they held a conference (the Hampton Court Conference) with the King to discuss their issues. He agreed to some reform, not wholly. By 1623-1624, King James viewed the Church of England to be a mix or middle way between Protestantism and Catholicism. It all went downhill from here, hence the rather large immigration of Puritans from England to New England between 1630-1640. The Puritans had believed the Anglican Church needed to be purified of the influence of Catholicism. When England’s rulers refused to make these changes, the Puritans felt they needed to live elsewhere.

What are we learning here? Freedom to pray as one wished AND thankfulness of having survived – be it exploring uncharted waters/country, immigrating to a new country and learning how to “weather” the extreme elements and original occupants, or the end of a war, with renewed Peace and Prosperity.

I find it fascinating to look back in history to the roots of the beginnings of our two countries who share a Thanksgiving Day and a continent, yet do so for different reasons and in different months of the year.

What are YOU grateful for today, and give THANKS for? How do you show this during these annual feasts? Sharing your table and bounty with family, friends, strangers? By yourself? Ignoring it completely?

I am most grateful to what is left of my family, to the family who have departed us, and to the work I am gifted to share with my clients, students, and strangers to Astrology (which is not a religion)! I give Thanks for the health of my physical body, how I continue to Keep on Keeping On despite my struggles, and to all my Soul Family – those Earth Angels who have shown me, and my family, their support these past two years especially.

Returning to our Roots has the distinct similarity to Returning to Basics: remember WHY you are doing WHEN you are doing, while BEing all at the same time. Explorers and people fleeing wars or religious persecution of the distant past – coming full circle to watching it all unfold yet again in the Middle East – interesting what goes around, comes around. In ways and means we would never imagine in the moment of Action we take to BE FREE to BE ME (Uranus in Aries since May 29, 2010) in the here and now.

Blessed BE!
